Answer: Charles Babbage. Between 1832 and 1840 Charles Babbage designed a machine he called the Analytical Engine.  This design was eventually built exactly to his 5,000 pages of specifications by the Science Museum in London in 1991.

Answer: Colossus. This was designed and built by Alan Turing at Bletchely Park during the Second World War.
